You lease the DIOPSIS insect camera per calendar year, for the duration of a project or for several years; the shortest term is one calendar year. You get a complete, field-ready system with camera, solar panel, 4G connection and access to the DIOPSIS portal, and we help with placement and monitoring design. No upfront investment, immediate data.
Leasing: measure without upfront investment
Faunabit has built the DIOPSIS insect camera since 2021 and makes it available on lease. You pay for the period in which you measure, from one calendar year to several years, and do not have to purchase or maintain any equipment. That suits project budgets, pilots and assignments with a fixed duration, but also multi-year monitoring for which you would rather not manage equipment of your own.
What you get
A DIOPSIS insect camera is a complete, field-ready system: 8 MP camera, LED screen lighting, 4G modem, base with fold-out insect screen, back frame, waterproof battery housing with 12 V 20 Ah battery, 12 V solar panel and 230 V supply. With that, the camera works independently in the field.
In the Netherlands the 4G data connection is included in the package; in other countries it is an extra option.
Included: the web portal
Access to the DIOPSIS web portal comes with the system. There you monitor the operation of the camera remotely, share photos and sensor readings with colleagues or clients, adjust settings (photo frequency, LED times, lighting) and record metadata for your research.
Option: image recognition
The camera was developed to work with image recognition. The insect recognition model is managed by Naturalis Biodiversity Center in the Netherlands. With this option added to the lease you get not only photos, but recognised taxonomic groups and counts. Read more about automated insect counting.
